Dr. Laura Brennan
Clinical Psychologist
As a psychologist, in my work with clients, and in life, I endeavor to be authentic, compassionate, consistent, and thoughtful in all that I do. I work to integrate anti-racism, gender- and sexuality affirming care, and cultural consciousness into my practice, and to be reflective about my role in my relationship with clients. I use evidence-based practices and embed them within the context of a collaborative therapeutic relationship and within the unique context of my clients’ lives to provide highly individualized, effective care.
After graduating from the Clinical Psychology Ph.D. program at the University of Connecticut in 2016, I completed my predoctoral internship training at the Veteran Affairs (VA) Connecticut Healthcare System in Newington, CT. There, I specialized in meeting the broad mental health needs of Veterans in the VA and in a nearby community mental health center. I also provided treatment to mothers with perinatal mood disorders through the Nurturing Families Network. I continued to work in the VA Healthcare System in both research and training roles for several years following, including completing an additional year of post-doctoral training at VA Boston Healthcare System’s Center for Returning Veterans to specialize in trauma and readjustment with a joint appointment at Harvard University and Boston University.
Prior to my graduate training, I served in the U.S. Air Force and worked with children with Autism Spectrum Disorder in Massachusetts and Kampala, Uganda.
